David Adams, c. 1968

Eight-year-old David William Adams disappeared from Issaquah, King County Washington on May 3, 1968. He was returning home from a friend’s house near Tiger Mountain Road. Despite a massive search, David was never found. It was assumed that he fell down a mine shaft or was attacked by a cougar. Foul play was not suspected for decades.

Late 2009, King County authorities announced a person of interest in David’s case. Detective Scott Tompkins said in 1968 the police never followed up on tips about a neighbor who was 20 years at the time. Forty one years after David disappeared, Tompkins called that person and subpoenaed phone records.

“There is evidence in our investigation that our person of interest is trying to steer potential witnesses away from the police,” said Tompkins. “That’s why we served the search warrant to contact more people within that inner circle.”

Original police reports put that man in the area just minutes before David disappeared. Dogs tracked a scent to his house, but never found a body.

circa 1994

Nine-month-old Aleacia Di’onne Stancil disappeared on December 19, 1994 from Phoenix, Arizona. Her mother, Toni Stancil, did not report her missing until March 1995. Toni claimed she left the infant with a female known only as “Dee”. Alecia and “Dee” have not been seen since and there is little information on this case.

Toni died in December of 1995.

Sims, circa 1961

On December 9, 1961, Andy Sims vanished from Wichita Falls, Texas. Andy was home with his older brother, Donald that morning while their mother, Ellen, was at work. The boys’ stepfather, William Sims, was in the National Guard and had been called up with the 49th Armored Division to go to Fort Polk, Louisiana during the Berlin crisis.

Donald reported Andy left the house between 12:45 and 1:00 to go out to play. He was never seen again.

When members of Andy’s family failed to locate him, they called police about 8pm.. Fort Sill, Civil Defense, Marine Reserves, members of the Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol and others worked with volunteers in the search for the boy.

Someone reported seeing a boy who matched Andy’s description at the Boy Scout Hut near Lake Wichita about 3pm on December 9. Lake Wichita was searched several times, and it was even dragged, but no trace of Andy was ever found.
